Renewable energy company AMPIN Energy Transition has raised up to $100 million (~₹9.58 billion) from Norfund, the Norwegian government’s investment fund for developing countries.
The funding will support the expansion of AMPIN’s manufacturing capabilities, its commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility-scale projects and its energy transition value chain business.
Following the investment, AMPIN said its total equity capital raised will reach nearly $1 billion (~₹95.81 billion) and facilitate more than $4 billion (~₹383.25 billion) in capital deployment.
The investment will be made under the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund, which Norfund manages.
AMPIN has a renewable energy portfolio of over 6.3 GW and 5.5 GWh across 23 states and Union Territories in India. Its portfolio includes solar, wind, and energy storage projects serving utility and C&I customers.
The company also has businesses in energy trading, solar cell and module manufacturing, green hydrogen, and energy storage.
Norfund is owned and funded by the Norwegian government and invests in businesses in developing countries. Its committed portfolio totals $4.5 billion (~₹431.15 billion) and its investments span Sub-Saharan Africa, South and Southeast Asia, and Latin America.
The fundraise comes less than a year after the company secured a $50 million long-term investment from FMO, a Dutch entrepreneurial development bank. The funding was expected to support the development of greenfield renewable energy projects.
In August 2026, AMPIN achieved financial closure for a $195 million project finance facility for a power purchase agreement-backed 100 MW wind-solar project with battery energy storage systems in Andhra Pradesh.
In May 2026, AMPIN also signed agreements with Grasim Industries to supply renewable power from a 52.3 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Harihar, Karnataka.
In March of the same year, it also signed a deal with UltraTech Cement to supply power from its 30 MW solar project.
According to Mercom Capital Group’s 1H and Q2 2026 Solar Funding and M&A Report, global solar companies raised $16.9 billion in corporate funding during the first half of 2026, a 56% year-over-year increase from $10.8 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.
