UK-based renewable energy developer Anesco has secured project financing from Lombard for three solar and battery storage projects in the UK.

The financing covers the 21 MW Woodwalton solar project in Cambridgeshire, the 50 MW/100 MWh Rothienorman battery energy storage project in Scotland, and the 48.5 MW Coven solar project in Staffordshire.

The Woodwalton solar project is operational and generating electricity. The Rothienorman battery storage project is in the final stages of construction and is expected to proceed to commissioning. The Coven solar project recently reached financial close, allowing it to proceed with the next phase of its development.

The announcement did not disclose the amount of financing secured from Lombard.

Anesco develops, constructs, finances, and operates grid-scale renewable energy assets. According to the release, the company has delivered 1.3 GW of solar and energy storage projects and manages more than 1.3 GW of renewable energy assets on behalf of investors.

The company operates across Northern Europe, including the Netherlands, Ireland, and Belgium. Anesco is a portfolio company of Ara Partners and Nature Infrastructure Capital.

In 2026, private equity firm Nature Infrastructure Capital invested in Anesco alongside existing investor Ara Partners and Anesco’s management team. The investment is intended to provide capital for the development and construction of Anesco’s pipeline of more than 7 GW of solar and battery storage projects. The pipeline is primarily focused on the U.K., with additional projects in Belgium and the Netherlands.

In January 2026, the company also announced the acquisition of the 36 MW Beachampton solar project from One Planet Developments, a large-scale solar and battery storage project developer. The project was developed by One Planet Developments in partnership with Viridi Re Development, Solar Ambition Europe, and the landowner Kingwell.

Announced large-scale solar project funding increased by 71% in the first half of 2026 compared with the funding raised in the same period in 2025, according to Mercom’s recently released 1H and Q2 2026 Solar Funding and M&A report.
