Deep Tech energy startup Adiabatic Technologies has raised ₹83 million (~$872,517) in a seed funding round led by Malpani Ventures and Avinya Ventures. Other investors who participated in the fundraise were Appreciate Capital, DeVC, Operators Studio (San Francisco), and UPES Incubator.

Adiabatic said it plans to use the fresh capital to expand its manufacturing capacity to 100 MWh annually, accelerate product development, strengthen its engineering team, and scale deployment of its battery systems across segments such as robotics, defense, drones, and industrial energy storage.

Founded in 2022, Adiabatic develops custom lithium-ion battery packs, smart chargers, and proprietary battery management systems for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) operating in high-reliability industries.

The company has deployed over 20,000 battery systems across more than 25 OEMs serving multiple sectors including robotics, defense, drones, agri-equipment, electric vehicles, and solar energy.

Talking about the funding, Abhishek Agarwal, General Partner, Appreciate Capital, said, “Physical AI is unlocking real adoption across robotics, drones, defense and agri-equipment. An underlying problem statement common across the board is the battery system underneath. That is a long-horizon engineering problem and relevant in a global context.”

Dhruv Sane, Principal Investment Lead at Malpani Ventures, said the real value in battery manufacturing lies in engineering, designing systems that perform reliably under demanding operating conditions.

“Adiabatic has built strong capabilities across battery design, thermal management and battery management systems, while demonstrating the execution needed to translate that engineering into commercial products. As demand grows across robotics, defense and industrial automation, we believe companies with differentiated technology rather than commoditized assembly will create lasting value,” he added.

Adiabatic was among the Top 10 finalists in Mercom India’s third Startup Pitch Competition, held during the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2025. The competition spotlights innovative startups in the renewables sector and provides them a platform to present their cutting-edge products and solutions before industry players.

India’s cumulative installed battery energy storage capacity reached 5.9 GWh in March 2026, according to Mercom India Research’s Q1 2026 India’s Energy Storage Landscape report. During the first quarter of 2026, the country added 4.6 GWh of battery energy storage capacity.
