Frontier Power USA, a long-duration energy storage development and investment platform, has signed an agreement to acquire a 480 MWh battery storage project portfolio from Bimergen Energy Corporation.

The portfolio includes three projects in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas market. Two are Texas 10 projects, which refers to battery storage projects with a capacity of 10 MW or less, and the third is a 100 MW/400 MWh project. Notices to proceed for the projects are expected to begin in mid-2026.

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Jackson Walker acted as legal advisers to Cerberus Capital Management, the owner of Frontier Power USA. Norton Rose Fulbright acted as legal adviser to Bimergen.

Stella Energy Solutions is working with Frontier Power USA and Bimergen as the execution partner for the development and delivery of the projects. The projects will use Eos’ Z3 long-duration battery storage systems.

Under the transaction agreement, a Frontier Power USA affiliate will fund the equity required for construction, pay Bimergen a development fee, and cover transaction expenses after closing. The affiliate is expected to contribute the project companies to Frontier Power USA after Frontier Power USA’s initial capitalization.

The portfolio would also mark the first transaction under Frontier Power USA’s previously announced 2 GWh capacity reservation agreement with Eos Energy Enterprises.

Following the contribution, Frontier Power USA is expected to hold a 92.5% ownership interest in the project companies. Bimergen will retain a 7.5% economic interest. The companies said the retained interest recognizes Bimergen’s ownership and development contribution. The parties will work together to bring the projects to commercial operations.

A total of 7.2 GW of energy storage projects were acquired in Q1 2026, a 227% increase compared to the 2.2 GW in Q1 2025, according to Mercom’s recently released Q1 2026 Energy Storage Funding and M&A report.

In September 2025, GridStor, a developer and operator of utility-scale battery energy storage projects, announced the acquisition of the 100 MW/400 MWh White Tank battery storage project in Arizona from Strata Clean Energy, a vertically integrated solar and storage project developer.
