Japan-based battery storage developer and manufacturer NEXTES has secured a syndicated term loan of ¥2 billion (~$12.6 million) to strengthen its stationary battery production capacity and fund research and development related to battery storage products and battery control technology.

The loan agreement was signed with Shoko Chukin Bank as the arranger and eight regional financial institutions participating.

The participating institutions include Shizuoka Bank, Keiyo Bank, Hokkoku Bank, Joyo Bank, Bank of Yokohama, The 77 Bank, Chiba Bank, and Yamanashi Chuo Bank.

NEXTES develops and manufactures battery storage systems and related solutions. Its proprietary ACTIVA battery control technology monitors and controls lithium-ion batteries.

The company also operates battery storage facilities and provides energy aggregation, installation, maintenance, and battery reuse services.

The company plans to use the funds to strengthen its production infrastructure for stationary battery storage systems and advance research and development of battery products and control technologies.

The Syndicated term loan agreement on September 17, 2026, utilizes the Debt Guarantee Program for Facilitating the Commercialization of Innovative Technology Research Results administered by the Organization for Small & Medium Enterprises and Regional Innovation, Japan (SME Support Japan).

SME Support Japan provides a debt guarantee covering 50% of the loan amount under the program.

In August, Expion Energy, a provider of lithium-ion battery power storage solutions, raised $9 million through a private placement of convertible debentures with accredited investors. Expion issued $9 million in aggregate principal amount of 8% convertible debentures and warrants to purchase up to 2,117,219 shares of its common stock. The warrants have an initial exercise price of $4.25 per share, subject to adjustment.
