Oman and Qatar recorded the fastest renewable energy growth in the GCC in 2025, with installed capacity more than doubling, according to the International Renewable Energy Agency. Oman’s capacity surged 138.5% to 1,722 MW, while Qatar’s rose 106.2% to 1,699 MW, driven entirely by large-scale solar additions. In Oman, solar capacity jumped from 672 MW to 1,672 MW, accounting for the entire 1,000 MW increase, while wind remained unchanged at 50 MW. Qatar also relied solely on solar expansion, adding 875 MW to reach 1,680 MW, with bioenergy capacity steady at 19 MW.
