Oman’s Nama Power and Water Procurement Company invited bids to procure electricity from solar projects totaling 1,000 MW. The projects must be commissioned by the second quarter of 2030. The deadline for bid submissions is August 26, 2026. Bidders must provide a tender bond equal to at least 1% of the tender value.
Future Fund Oman, an investment vehicle managed by the Oman Investment Authority, approved Orion Solar’s 6 GW integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in the Sohar Freezone. The investment package also includes the Gallant Industrial Project, which will manufacture 66,000 metric tons of lithium iron phosphate cathode material annually for electric-vehicle batteries and energy-storage applications.
Saudi Arabia assigned ACWA Power the responsibility for exporting green hydrogen and its derivatives, according to a filing by the company with the Saudi Exchange, or Tadawul. The country has also tasked ACWA Power with developing renewable energy generation, transmission, and export projects, including electricity interconnections with Europe and Arab countries. ACWA Power received exclusive rights to export green hydrogen and related products, including green ammonia, green methanol, green methane, and other fuels produced using green hydrogen.
Solar module manufacturer Trinasolar signed a memorandum of understanding with Al-Raebi for Trading and Solar Energy Systems Company to assess a potential 1.5 GW solar project pipeline in Yemen from 2026 to 2029. The companies will evaluate opportunities for utility-scale and commercial solar projects in Yemen and other Middle Eastern markets. The agreement also covers the possible use of Trinasolar’s TOPCon 3.0 modules. Under the memorandum, the companies will assess potential projects, technical requirements, and possible cooperation models.
Egypt has commissioned a 600 MWh battery energy storage system and a 500 kV substation at a 1 GW solar photovoltaic project in Benban. The project has entered the phased power dispatch stage and has begun supplying electricity to the grid operated by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company. The battery storage system will store excess solar power and discharge electricity during periods of high demand or when solar generation is unavailable.
