MENA Weekly Round-Up: Türkiye Secures $468 Million for Renewables Development

Türkiye secured €400 million ($468.4 million) in World Bank-backed financing to accelerate investments in wind, solar, and battery storage. The funding is expected to help deliver 1,579 MW of renewable energy capacity, support 392 MWh of battery storage, and mobilize up to $405 million in private capital. The €400 million ($468.4 million) package consists of two €200 million (~$229.06 million) loans provided through the state-run lenders, Development and Investment Bank of Türkiye and the Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye. The funding will be utilized to expand the country’s renewable energy program to cover onshore wind and battery energy storage systems.

Module manufacturer AIKO secured an order to supply modules for Egypt’s Nefer Menya solar project, being developed by Infinity Power. The announcement was made at the Africa Energy Forum in Cape Town. The project is being financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. It will deliver 1.2 GWp of solar capacity integrated with 600 MWh of battery energy storage.

Polish clean energy developer Hynfra and Jordan-based Fidelity Group signed a joint venture to develop Jordan’s first commercial-scale green ammonia production facility. The joint venture signed a long-term lease agreement with the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. The green ammonia facility is planned to have a production capacity of 120,000 tonnes per annum. The green ammonia project will be powered by a 550 MWp solar project integrated with energy storage systems.

Abu Dhabi has commenced construction of a $6 billion solar-plus-battery project. It will combine 5.2 GW of solar capacity with a 19 GWh battery system to deliver 1 GW of power continuously, including at night. Developed by Masdar and Emirates Water and Electricity Company, the project broke ground in October 2025 and is expected to start operations in 2027.
