Automotive component manufacturers depend on a reliable and uninterrupted supply of electricity to ensure continuous production at their factories. Rooftop solar systems can help these facilities utilize available roof space to reduce grid power consumption, lower electricity costs, and mitigate exposure to tariff increases.

Seeking to leverage similar gains from solar-powered systems, automotive component manufacturer Huf India has installed a 1 MW rooftop solar project at its manufacturing facility in Nanekarwadi, Chakan in Maharashtra’s Pune district.

ZTRIC India executed the project, which is expected to generate 1.4 million kWh of clean energy annually and offset approximately 1,092 tons of carbon emissions.

The company began installing the rooftop solar project in November 2025 and commissioned it in March 2026.

The project uses Renew solar modules with capacities ranging from 580 Wp to 612 Wp and Solis inverters.

Huf India is expected to save approximately ₹10 million (~$104,922) to ₹12 million (~$125,906) annually in electricity costs at its manufacturing facility through the rooftop solar installation

Commercial and industrial (C&I) consumers have been increasingly adopting rooftop solar installations to reduce their dependence on grid electricity, lower power costs, and meet their sustainability objectives.

Rooftop solar installations accounted for 18% of India’s total solar installations during Q1 2026, according to Mercom India’s Q1 2026 India Rooftop Solar Market Report. The residential segment accounted for 82% of total rooftop solar installations, while the industrial, commercial, and government segments contributed 11%, 7%, and 0.4% to the quarterly additions, respectively.

Recently, automotive components manufacturer TBK India expanded the rooftop solar capacity at its facility in Shirval, Khandala, Maharashtra, to 1,024.2 kW.

Mercom India also hosts a pan-India C&I Clean Energy Meet series, bringing renewable energy developers and commercial and industrial power consumers together to discuss clean energy adoption. The next event in the series will be held in Hyderabad on August 21, 2026.
