Decarbonization solutions company ReNew has secured a $100 million financing facility from The Netherlands-based entrepreneurial development bank FMO to support its renewable energy projects under construction.

The 10-year loan has been extended to the company’s subsidiary ReNew Solar Power under the voluntary retention route.

The company said the financing will diversify its funding sources across domestic and international markets and provide long term capital to support the development of its renewable energy portfolio.

The transaction is FMO’s largest single-ticket investment in India’s energy sector and its largest corporate financing aligned with the 2X Challenge in Asia to date.

The 2X Challenge is a global initiative that seeks to advance women’s economic participation and empowerment through investment.

FMO invests in private sector projects and businesses across developing countries and emerging markets. The development bank focuses on agribusiness, food and water, energy, and financial institutions.

The bank has a total committed portfolio of approximately €13 billion across more than 85 countries.

As of August 18, 2026, ReNew had a gross clean energy portfolio of 20.5 GW, including 1.7 GW/6.2 GWh of battery energy storage capacity.

The company also has 6.4 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity and 2.5 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity.

ReNew is expanding its solar cell manufacturing capacity by another 4 GW, which it expects to become operational by December 2026.

In July, ReNew and Japan’s Mitsui inked a $730 million (~₹69.53 billion) multi-currency refinancing for its 320 MW round-the-clock renewable energy project in Tamil Nadu. Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking acted as structuring bank, original mandated lead arranger and bookrunner, and green loan coordinator.

India’s renewable energy sector attracted foreign direct investment inflows of $3.02 billion (~₹264.12 billion) during the financial year (FY) 2026. Although this was down 24.8% from the record $4.01 billion (~₹337.97 billion) in FY 2025, it remains the second-highest annual inflow since FY 2011.
