Solar engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company Solarium Green Energy has commissioned a fully automated 1 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
The facility will manufacture up to 725 Wp large-format crystalline silicon G12 solar modules using TOPCon cells and half-cut cells. The plant will also manufacture bifacial modules.
The facility has been developed at an estimated cost of ₹900 million (~$9.7 million).
The modules will be produced using high-precision imported equipment, including tabbers, stringers, laminators, and sun simulators.
Production at the plant facility will be used to meet captive requirements and supply external customers, including other EPC companies and the broader B2B market.
Solarium Green said that solar modules account for 50-60% of the total EPC project costs, and commissioning the facility will strengthen its supply chain, reduce dependence on third-party suppliers, and accelerate its execution timelines.
The company also expects to improve its margins through captive consumption from the facility.
The company claims that at 85% plant utilization, the plant can generate annual revenues of over ₹10 billion (~$108 million)
The company announced the establishment of the facility last year.
Last year, Solarium Green Energy received three purchase orders for modules, with a cumulative value of ₹186 million (~$2.09 million), from Suntek Energy Systems and Solluz Energy for the supply of non-domestic content requirement-compliant, 715 Wp N-Type TOPCon bifacial dual-glass modules.
According to Mercom India’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2026 report, the country added nearly 119 GW of solar module and over 9 GW of solar cell capacity in 2025. The manufacturing expansion was driven by demand from India’s large utility-scale solar project pipeline, residential rooftop targets, the PM Surya Ghar program, and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers List (ALMM)-II domestic cell mandate.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy expanded the ALMM by adding 11,035 MW of solar module capacity. The cumulative module manufacturing capacity under ALMM now stands at 173,144 MW.
