Surat-based solar module manufacturer Sunora Solar has signed a long-term purchase agreement with Hyderabad-based Bharat Enterprise to supply TOPCon G12R solar modules for a 30 MW solar project in Hyderabad under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) program.

The estimated project cost exceeds ₹1 billion (~$11.36 million).

Sunora said the modules have an efficiency of more than 23% and a lifespan of up to 30 years. The modules will be manufactured at the company’s Kosamba facility in Gujarat, which is part of its 3 GW module expansion plan.

According to Sunora, using higher-output modules is expected to reduce balance-of-system costs by generating more power per unit of surface area.

At the Mercom India Summit 2025, Sunora had launched the 640 Wp G12R TOPCon solar module.

The company also manufactures M10R modules and bifacial solar modules. Its offerings include on-grid and hybrid inverters, as well as battery energy storage systems.

According to Mercom India’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2026 report, the country added nearly 119 GW of solar module capacity and over 9 GW of solar cell capacity in 2025. The manufacturing expansion was driven by demand from India’s large utility-scale solar project pipeline, residential rooftop targets, the PM Surya Ghar program, and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) for domestic cells.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy expanded the ALMM  List-II for solar cells, raising the total enlisted capacity to 29,306 MW from 26,477 MW in February.

In its latest update, MNRE added 11,035 MW of solar module capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. The cumulative module manufacturing capacity under the list now stands at 173,144 MW.

Given the gap between module and cell manufacturing capacities, the industry is seeking a time-bound extension of the compliance deadline for the ALMM List-II for solar cells. Under the mandate, all solar modules must use solar cells listed in ALMM List-II from  June 1, 2026.
