					</table><a href="https://www.ares.com/us/businesses-and-products/our-businesses/infrastructure" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ares Infrastructure Equity funds</a>, affiliates of Ares Management Corporation, a global alternative investment manager, have acquired a significant minority stake in Statera Energy’s operational energy storage and flexible generation portfolio of approximately 1.9 GW in the UK.
The portfolio includes the 680 MW Carrington Storage project in Greater Manchester and the 750 MW Thurrock Flexible Generation project in Essex.
Macquarie Capital is acting as Statera&#8217;s financial adviser on the transaction, while Paul, Weiss is serving as transaction counsel and Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer as due diligence counsel.
KPMG served as the financial and tax adviser to Ares, while DLA Piper and Baringa served as legal and commercial advisers, respectively. The transaction terms were not disclosed.
Statera Energy, a UK-based developer and operator of energy storage and flexible generation assets, will continue to own, operate, and manage the portfolio, with Ares joining as a long-term investment partner.
The investment will provide additional capital to support Statera’s growth plans. The company will also continue advancing its 16 GW development pipeline, focusing on flexible energy infrastructure to help balance an electricity system increasingly dependent on renewable energy.

According to Mercom’s recently <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/product/1h-2026-funding-ma-report-energy-storage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">released</a> 1H 2026 Funding and M&amp;A for Energy Storage report, project acquisition activity accelerated sharply during the first half of 2026, with approximately 14 GW of battery storage capacity changing hands in 63 transactions, compared with 6.1 GW in 31 transactions during the same period in 2025.
In September, ENGIE Zielona Energia, a subsidiary of the French utility company ENGIE that operates as a renewable energy provider and producer in Poland, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/engie-acquires-438-mw-battery-energy-storage-project-in-poland/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired</a> a special purpose vehicle developing a 438 MW/876 MWh battery energy storage project.

Ares Acquires Stake in Statera’s 1.9 GW UK Energy Portfolio

<a href="https://www.aresmgmt.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ares Management Corporation</a>, an investment manager, announced that a fund managed by the Ares Infrastructure Opportunities strategy has acquired a 49% stake in a portfolio of projects from <a href="https://edp.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">EDP Renováveis</a>, a developer, owner, and operator of renewable energy infrastructure. The portfolio&#8217;s total enterprise value is estimated at around $2.9 billion.
The diversified portfolio comprises 10 assets totaling 1,632 MW, of which 1,030 MW is solar, 402 MW is wind, and 200 MW is storage, across four U.S. power markets. All projects have long-term Power Purchase Agreements, with an average remaining contract duration of 18 years.

With this acquisition, Ares&#8217; renewable energy holdings now stand at around 5.7 GW across 11 states and five power markets since September 2024. The partnership combines EDPR&#8217;s operational expertise with Ares&#8217; capabilities, investing in essential and infrastructure assets.
According to Mercom&#8217;s 1H and Q2 2025 Solar Funding and M&amp;A <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/product/1h-and-q2-2025-solar-funding-and-ma-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, approximately 19.9 GW of solar projects were acquired in the first half of 2025, compared to 18.5 GW in the first half of 2024.
In August, Bluefield Solar, the London-listed U.K. income fund focused primarily on acquiring and managing solar energy assets, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/bluefield-solar-sells-250-mw-solar-and-storage-portfolio/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the sale of a portfolio of solar and storage projects totaling 250 MW to Lyceum Solar, a joint venture with 25% ownership by BSIF and 75% ownership by GLIL Infrastructure.

Ares Acquires 49% Stake in 1.6 GW Renewable Energy Portfolio

<a href="https://dsdrenewables.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">DSD Renewables</a> (DSD) has secured a $200 million preferred equity investment from a fund managed by the Infrastructure and Power strategy of <a href="https://www.aresmgmt.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ares Management Corporation</a> (Ares) to increase its continued strategic growth.
The capital will be used to support DSD’s expanding pipeline of future projects in the commercial and industrial (C&amp;I) market, grow its Developer Network, support corporate needs, and provide readily accessible capital for asset acquisitions.
“Bringing on another top-tier investor to support business growth validates DSD’s approach and the power of our platform,” says Greg Fabso, Chief Financial Officer at DSD.
“This investment from Ares, along with continued support from BlackRock Real Assets, will enable us to scale further as we strategically build out more renewable energy projects across the country, take on new partners, and grow our asset base,” he added.
In May 2021, DSD <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/project-finance-brief-sonnedix-and-cox-energy-chile/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $85 million in tax equity financing from Bank of America to support its expanding pipeline of distributed generation solar projects in the commercial and industrial market through 2021, with a sizeable portion going toward New York State Energy Development and Research Authority Value of Distributed Energy Resources assets.
Last year in January, DSD <a href="https://mercomindia.com/funding-and-ma-roundup-enphase-acquires-sofdesk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a $300 million debt facility financed by Credit Suisse. With financing secured, DSD has the flexibility to support projects that will be developed in 2021 and 2022 and to support the company’s anticipated growth.
According to Mercom’s recently published Q4 2021 solar funding and M&amp;A <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/product/annual-q4-2021-solar-funding-ma-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, global venture capital and private equity funding in the solar sector in 2021 came to $4.5 billion, a 281% increase compared to the $1.2 billion in 2020. This is the highest amount of VC funding for the solar sector since 2010.

DSD Renewables Secures $200 Million Equity Investment from Ares Management

<a href="https://sbenergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">SB Energy</a>, SoftBank Group&#8217;s U.S. Climate Infrastructure Technology platform, announced that funds managed by the Infrastructure and Power strategy of <a href="https://www.aresmgmt.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ares Management Corporation</a> are leading a strategic equity investment of up to $600 million in the company, including capital from potential co-investors.
The investment intends to help both companies to drive innovation in the sector and deploy clean energy at scale.
SB Energy plans to deliver 10 GW of renewable energy and storage projects in operation or under construction by the end of 2025. Since launching in the U.S. market in 2019, the company claims to have completed development of, financed, and started construction on nearly 1.7 GW of utility-scale solar projects, of which 1.3 GW are currently providing clean, reliable energy to Texas and California.

SB Energy maintains it is aggressively growing its renewable energy and storage project pipeline through greenfield development, partnerships, and acquisitions, while also expanding its digital and technology capabilities. Since its inception, SB Energy has forged partnerships with financial institutions to secure more than $4 billion in tax equity and project financing to develop and build renewable projects and make further investments in the clean energy transition.
Milbank LLP served as outside counsel to SB Energy, Kirkland &amp; Ellis LLP served as outside counsel to the Ares-managed funds, and Morrison &amp; Foerster LLP served as outside counsel to SoftBank on the transaction.
Recently, SB Energy had <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-sb-energy-solar-modules-first-solar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that it had placed a multi-year order for 1.5 GW of First Solar&#8217;s thin-film solar modules. SB Energy will deploy these modules across its 4 GW solar and storage development pipeline in the U.S.
In October 2021, Adani Green Energy Limited <a href="https://mercomindia.com/daily-news-wrap-up-adani-acquisition-sb-energy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired</a> a 100% stake in SB Energy&#8217;s Indian arm from SoftBank Group and Bharti Group. The deal valued SB Energy India at about $3.5 billion (~₹260 billion). SB Energy India has 5 GW renewable assets across four states in India through its SPVs. The portfolio holds 1,700 MW of operational renewable assets, 2,554 MW of assets under construction, and 700 MW of assets nearing construction.
