					</table><p><a href="https://www.gaussion.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gaussion</a>, a company developing energy intelligence technology for battery packs, has raised $28 million to scale its battery performance technology.</p>
<p>The funding round was co-led by BGF and AlbionVC. Autotech Ventures, UCL Technology Fund, DN Capital, and Future Ventures, led by Steve Jurvetson, an early investor in SpaceX and Tesla, participated as follow-on investors.</p>
<p>The round brings Gaussion’s total capital raised to more than $44 million since its founding in 2022 as a University College London and Faraday Institution spinout.</p>
<p>The company’s technology uses an external magnetic field to enable rapid charging. Gaussion said the system improves battery performance and lifespan through proprietary, artificial intelligence-enabled control software without requiring changes to battery chemistry or battery design.</p>
<p>Gaussion said the funding will support the scaling of its technology across automotive, aerospace, grid storage, consumer electronics, and artificial intelligence infrastructure.</p>
<p>“The race everyone’s watching is about computer chips – but the real prize is the battery. The battery decides whether the giant computers behind AI can keep running. Whether a drone can stay in the sky. Whether a satellite survives out in space. Every battery faces a physics ceiling, and we move that ceiling,” said Tom Hennan, CEO and Co-founder, Gaussion.</p>
<p>The additional investment will be used to scale commercial deployment of MagLiB, Gaussion’s magnetic PCB retrofit system, and Aeon, its proprietary control chip and software platform, across the automotive, aerospace, data center, and consumer electronics sectors.</p>

<p>In June, CeLLife Technologies, a Finnish battery software company, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/cellife-technologies-raises-4-6-million-to-scale-battery-analytics-platform/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a €4 million (~$4.6 million) post-seed funding round. The round included the European Innovation Council, new investors 2C Ventures of Estonia and Butterfly Ventures of Finland, and existing investors, including France-based Ventech.</p>


Battery Tech Company Gaussion Raises $28 Million in Funding

					</table><p><a href="https://www.cellife.fi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CeLLife Technologies</a>, a Finnish battery software company, has closed a €4 million (~$4.6 million) post-seed funding round.</p>
<p>The round included the European Innovation Council, new investors 2C Ventures of Estonia and Butterfly Ventures of Finland, and existing investors, including France-based Ventech.</p>
<p>The company said it will use the funding to scale commercial operations across Europe and North America. Its target segments include battery recycling, module and pack assembly quality control, and condition monitoring for battery energy storage systems.</p>
<p>“This funding enables us to accelerate the commercial rollout of CeLLife’s battery quality and health intelligence platform,” said Roni Luhtala, Co-founder and CEO of CeLLife Technologies. “Battery manufacturers, recyclers, and energy storage operators all face the same challenge: they need faster, more reliable visibility into battery quality, condition, and performance. We are building the diagnostics and decision-support infrastructure needed across the full battery lifecycle.”</p>
<p>The company’s platform is built around its patented Electrical Fingerprint technology, which it says captures battery measurement data in seconds and converts it into diagnostics, traceability, and decision-support outputs.</p>
<p>CeLLife said the technology is chemistry-agnostic and works across nickel manganese cobalt, lithium iron phosphate, nickel cobalt aluminum, solid-state, and sodium-ion cells. The company also said the technology is protected by multiple granted patents.</p>
<p>According to the company, its platform aligns with demand for battery traceability, lifecycle intelligence, and digital records under the EU Battery Regulation, including battery passport requirements coming into force for relevant battery categories from February 2027.</p>

<p>In 2024, Zitara, a battery management software provider, <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/battery-management-software-company-zitara-secures-17-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a $17 million Series AA funding round led by Salesforce Ventures, with participation from Emerson Ventures, Chevron Technology Ventures, Energy Impact Partners, and Climate Capital.</p>


CeLLife Technologies Raises $4.6 Million to Scale Battery Analytics Platform

<p><a href="https://www.fortescue.com/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fortescue</a>, a global green energy and metal mining company, has announced the acquisition of <a href="https://www.zitara.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zitara</a>, a U.S.-based company specializing in on-site energy storage precision control solutions.</p>
<p>Fortescue, through its software-based battery intelligence platform, Elysia, operates in the battery intelligence sector, developing products to improve battery performance and address operational challenges, with the aim of supporting global industrial decarbonization efforts.</p>
<p>The acquisition is said to strengthen Elysia&#8217;s capabilities by combining its existing cloud-based products with on-site systems for battery energy storage. For customers, this provides a combination of cloud analytics and real-time on-premises controls to maximize trading revenue, extend asset life, and improve safety.</p>
<p>Elysia Manager Director, Tim Engstrom, said, “The acquisition of Zitara will expand the capabilities of our battery intelligence division, bringing together world-class cloud analytics with real-time on-premises controls, complementing the existing work of Elysia and strengthening our position in the Battery Energy Storage market. Integrating real time on-site control systems with Elysia’s proven analytics gives us a unique, globally scalable platform. This positions Fortescue at the cutting edge of battery intelligence and supports our mission to accelerate decarbonisation across industry profitably”.</p>
<p>The deal is also expected to further build on Fortescue&#8217;s presence in global BESS markets, including the U.S., Australia, and Europe, regions expected to more than double to over 500 GWh combined in the next five years.</p>
<p>The company plans to roll out 4-5 GWh of storage systems to help ensure grid stability as it decarbonizes its iron ore operations by 2030.</p>
<p>According to Mercom’s 9M and Q3 2025 Funding and M&amp;A for Energy Storage <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/product/9m-and-q3-2025-funding-and-ma-report-for-storage/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, a total of 20 Energy Storage M&amp;A transactions were announced in 9M 2025, up from 18 M&amp;A transactions in 9M 2024.</p>
<p>In September, Palmer Energy Technology Limited, a U.K.-based maker of Battery Energy Storage Systems, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/palmer-energy-technology-acquires-brill-power-and-secures-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the acquisition of Brill Power, an Oxford University spin-out focusing on cell-level control and active balancing technology in battery management systems.</p>


Fortescue Acquires Energy Storage Software Company Zitara

<p><a href="https://elementenergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Element Energy</a>, a provider of advanced battery management systems, has announced the close of a $28 million Series B Funding round co-led by Cohort Ventures and an undisclosed energy generation company.</p>
<p>The financing round also saw participation from existing strategic backers LG Technology Ventures, Edison International, Prelude Ventures, and Radar Partners.</p>
<p>The funding is expected to provide growth capital for continued investment in assets, logistics, and infrastructure related to upcoming utility-scale deployments of second-life electric vehicle (EV) batteries utilizing the company’s adaptive battery management system.</p>
<p>“Our technology unlocks significant improvements in battery safety, energy throughput, and system life, enhancing the value proposition of batteries across many systems, including first and second-life grid assets, electric vehicles, and more. We are thrilled to be implementing our technology at scale with GWh, grid-connected deployments planned in 2023 and 2024,” said Tony Stratakos, CEO, and Co-Founder of Element Energy.</p>
<p>Element had recently secured over 2.5 GWh of EV batteries. The company was also <a href="https://elementenergy.com/us-department-of-energy-announces-7-9-million-of-funding-to-element-energy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a> a $7.9 million award by the U.S. Department of Energy to develop a planned 50 MWh battery project, which is expected to be the largest installation of second-life EV batteries on the U.S. power grid to date.</p>
<p>Following the deployment of its multi-gigawatt secured pipeline beginning in 2023. Element plans to work with automotive original equipment manufacturers and gigafactories on additional second-life asset deployments, first-life battery energy storage systems, direct EV integration, and more.</p>
<p>The company also announced that Matt Murphy, President and Chief Executive Officer of Marvell Technology, a provider of data infrastructure semiconductor solutions, has joined the company’s Board of Directors.</p>
<p>“Element Energy has created the battery management hardware and software needed to enable efficient battery reuse at scale and provide affordable, clean electricity for a broad range of energy storage and EV applications,” said Matt Murphy.</p>
