U.S.-based engineering, procurement, and construction firm Black &amp; Veatch has been <a href="https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20221128005010/en/Major-2000-MW-Solar-and-Battery-Storage-Effort-to-Address-UK-Energy-Needs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">awarded</a> a lead role in developing 2 GW solar and battery storage projects by UK-based developer Amberside Energy. Black &amp; Veatch will deliver technical advisory and support services for Amberside’s solar and storage portfolio framework agreement. The framework covers standalone solar projects, standalone battery projects, and co-located solar and battery sites across the United Kingdom. Besides planning and designing solar and battery storage systems, Black &amp; Veatch will also plan and design the electricity distribution and transmission assets and manage the interface with the national grid and distribution network operators.
Denmark-based wind turbine manufacturer Vestas <a href="https://www.vestas.com/en/media/company-news/2022/vestas-selected-as-preferred-supplier-for-the-1-3-gw-mu-c3674386?utm_content=229694311&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=linkedin&amp;hss_channel=lcp-1956826" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> that MunmuBaram, a joint venture between Shell and HEXICON AB, has named Vestas as the preferred turbine supplier for the 1.3 GW MunmuBaram floating offshore wind project in South Korea. Vestas will supply and install 84 units of the V236-15.0 MW turbine for the project, located off the southeast coast of South Korea. The turbines will be installed on floating foundations in the project area of approximately 240 square kilometers, with water depths ranging between 120 and 150 meters. Once installed, Vestas will also deliver 20-year service and maintenance for the wind farm.
Tata Motors has <a href="https://www.tatamotors.com/press/tata-motors-partners-with-indusind-bank-to-offer-exclusive-electric-vehicle-dealer-financing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">joined</a> hands with IndusInd Bank to offer exclusive EV dealer financing to its authorized passenger electric vehicle (EV) dealers. IndusInd Bank will provide additional inventory funding with attractive pricing to authorized passenger EV dealers of Tata Motors. Repayment tenure will range from 60 to 75 days. IndusInd Bank will also offer additional limits to cater to high-demand phases, which will be available to dealers twice a year.
Madrid-based Renewable solutions provider ACCIONA Energía will <a href="https://www.acciona.com/updates/news/acciona-energia-expand-the-macintyre-wind-precinct-australia-2000mw/?_adin=02021864894" target="_blank" rel="noopener">develop</a> the Herries Range Wind Farm (1,000 MW), an expansion of the MacIntyre Wind Precinct that will double its capacity to 2,000 MW. The MacIntyre Precinct is the largest wind project in Australia and the Southern Hemisphere. The MacIntyre Precinct (1,023 MW), currently under construction, will be equipped with 180 turbines of 5.7 MW capacity. At 2,000 MW capacity, the MacIntyre Precinct will supply enough clean energy to power 1.4 million homes annually. The Precinct currently consists of two wind farms-MacIntyre (923 MW), owned by ACCIONA Energía (70%) and Ark Energy (30%), and government-owned energy company CleanCo’s proposed Karara wind farm.
California-based Xponent Power, a renewable energy solutions provider, has <a href="https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/xponent-power-partners-with-clean-energy-associates-cea-301678225.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">engaged</a> Clean Energy Associates (CEA) to enable the manufacturing of its Xpanse solar awning. This compact and retractable 1200W solar awning (canopy) deploys at the touch of a button. Xpanse solar is in discussions with recreational vehicle manufacturers for strategic partnerships. With this engagement, CEA will expand its manufacturing services offerings, helping clean energy and e-mobility companies grow and navigate the key manufacturing challenges critical for their success. Xponent Power plans to begin volume shipments of its products to its US customers in 2023.

Daily News Wrap-Up: Black & Veatch to Help Develop 2 GW of Solar and Battery Storage

<a href="https://recurrentenergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Recurrent Energy</a>, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Canadian Solar, acquired two standalone energy storage projects from <a href="https://bmenergystorage.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Black Mountain Energy Storage</a>.
The projects are in the South Load Zone of the Texas ERCOT market, and each is likely to store up to 200 MWh of energy. Both projects are currently in development and are expected to reach notice to proceed in 2023 and begin operation in the second quarter of 2024.
Recurrent Energy has developed 2.9 GWh of energy storage projects that are currently under construction or operation and has an additional pipeline of 15.5 GWh of projects under early to mid-stage development.
The two standalone energy storage projects added to the company’s development pipeline will be operated as merchant projects in the ERCOT market.
Recurrent will continue developing the projects, finalizing rights and designs, selecting and procuring equipment, raising project financing, and constructing the facilities.

The South Zone in ERCOT is an attractive area for storage development due to the abundance of coastal wind and solar power. Battery storage enables stored power to be used during peak demand, improving reliability.
The transactions were executed through the LevelTen Asset Marketplace, which connects clean energy project developers and financiers.
The U.S. energy storage market added 955 MW and 2,875 MWh of new installations across all segments in the first quarter (Q1) of 2022, taking the total grid-scale installations capacity to 2.3 GWh, according to the U.S. Energy Storage Monitor <a href="https://mercomindia.com/us-added-955-mw-energy-storage-installations/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a> released jointly by global research firm Wood Mackenzie and the American Clean Power Association. The grid-scale installations in the U.S. were up &#8211; four times &#8211; the volume in Q1 2021, despite project delays and procurement challenges due to supply chain constraints.
Earlier this month, Bluefield Solar, an income fund focused on acquiring and managing renewable energy and storage assets predominantly in the UK, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/bluefield-solar-acquires-battery-storage-uk/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired</a> two 40 MW battery storage projects from Green Hedge Energy for £4.5 million (~$5.6 million). The projects are in the regions Derbyshire and Worcestershire.
According to Mercom’s Q1 2022 Funding and M&amp;A <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/product/q1-2022-funding-and-ma-report-for-storage-grid-efficiency/">Report</a> for Storage, Grid &amp; Efficiency, there were five M&amp;A transactions involving Battery Storage companies in Q1 2022. In Q4 2021, there were nine M&amp;A transactions. Year-over-year, there were four Battery Storage M&amp;A transactions in Q1 2021.
