Field Energy, a developer and operator of battery energy storage systems, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/field-energy-secures-257-million-from-dif-capital-partners/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> a £200 million (~$257 million) investment from DIF Capital Partners via their DIF Infrastructure VII fund. The investment will allow Field Energy to accelerate the development and buildout of its 4.5 GWh pipeline of grid-scale battery energy storage projects in the UK and Western Europe.
UK-based electric vehicle charge point operator GRIDSERVE Sustainable Energy has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/gridseve-raises-682-million-expand-ev-network-uk" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> a total of £526 million (~$682 million) in green infrastructure financing to accelerate its e-mobility expansion in the country. The financing comprises £326 million (~$423 million) in committed loan facilities, with a further £200 million (~$259.5 million) uncommitted accordion facility that the company has reserved for future assets. GRIDSERVE plans to use the funds to install over 500 Electric Super Hubs nationwide to help deliver more than 3,000 high power charge points with speeds of up to 350 kW, capable of providing 100 miles of charge in five minutes.
Adani New Industries, a wholly owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/adani-394-million-barclays-deutsche-bank-solar-manufacturing" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> a trade finance facility of $394 million from Barclays and Deutsche Bank to fulfill the working capital needs of their integrated solar module manufacturing facility. The company is building an ecosystem of one of the largest integrated green hydrogen businesses, including solar module and wind turbine manufacturing.
ev.energy, a provider of EV charging software solutions, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/ev-energy-raises-33-million-in-series-b-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $33 million in Series B funding, bringing the total capital raised by the company to $46 million. The round was led by National Grid Partners with support from Aviva Ventures, WEX Venture Capital, and InMotion Ventures, the investment arm of Jaguar Land Rover. The round also saw continued support from existing investors Energy Impact Partners, Future Energy Ventures, and ArcTern Ventures.
Mufin Green Finance, a listed Non-Banking Financial Company dedicated to EV financing, has <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mufin-green-raises-foundation-to-finance-evs-in-india" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> ₹80 million (~$972,585) in funding from Shell Foundation, a UK-registered charity. The funding from Shell Foundation will help Mufin Green Finance leverage approximately $40-60 million in commercial debt over five years through recycling the de-risking pool.
Virya Energy, a company active in the development, financing, construction, and operation of renewable energy production sources, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/virya-energy-acquires-majority-stake-constant-energy/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquired </a>a majority stake in Singapore-based renewable electricity generation and storage development platform Constant Energy through a combination of primary investments and secondary shares from Olympus Capital Asia, a middle-market investment firm focused on Asia.

					</table>UK-based electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator GRIDSERVE Sustainable Energy (<a href="https://www.gridserve.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">GRIDSERVE</a>) has raised a total of £526 million (~$682 million) in green infrastructure financing to accelerate its e-mobility expansion in the country.
The financing comprises £326 million (~$423 million) in committed loan facilities, with a further £200 million (~$259.5 million) uncommitted accordion facility that the company has reserved for future assets.
The £326 million facility consists of a £300 million (~$389 million) term loan, a £10 million (~$13 million) working capital facility, and a £16 million (~$21 million) value-added tax  facility.
The financing will be undertaken under GRIDSERVE’s Green Finance Framework, certified Dark Green by S&amp;P Global’s Shades of Green, making it the first officially designated green loan for EV charging infrastructure in the UK.
The Dark Green is a specific shading scale by S&amp;P Global allocated to projects and solutions corresponding to the long-term vision of a low-carbon and climate-resilient future.
GRIDSERVE plans to use the funds to install over 500  Electric Super Hubs nationwide to help deliver more than 3,000 high power charge points with speeds of up to 350 kW, capable of providing 100 miles of charge in five minutes.
The funds will help GRIDSERVE’s Sun-to-Wheel ecosystem— a company-developed system to monitor energy deployment while maximizing its impact for effective climate action.
The company will also use the funds to plan upgrades for its future EV charging Super Hubs and Electric Forecourts that are a substitute for petrol forecourts. The funds will be directed to refinance operational solar and battery projects, which will help the company expand its services in the UK.
Founder and CEO of GRIDSERVE Toddington Harper said, “This financing which was a hugely popular transaction amongst banks, attracting overwhelming market demand, will accelerate our delivery, providing customers further confidence to go electric, and fully charge GRIDSERVE’s mission to move the needle on climate change, precisely at the time when urgent action is so critically required.”
Last year, GRIDSERVE <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/energy-storage-firms-26-4-billion-corporate-funding-2022" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $243 million in one of the top venture capital funding deals in 2022.
In June 2022, the UK government <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/uk-government-stops-plug-in-grant-for-electric-cars" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> the plug-in grant program, which offered incentives on the purchase price of EVs. The funds from it were to be diverted to installing charging stations and supporting taxi and van drivers to transition to EVs.

GRIDSERVE Raises $682 Million to Expand EV Network in UK

<a href="https://www.gridserve.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gridserve</a>, a sustainable energy company, announced a £200 million (~$243 million) investment from Infracapital, the infrastructure equity investment arm of M&amp;G.
The investment will accelerate the company’s Sun-to-Wheel model, which encompasses generating energy through hybrid solar farms and distributing power through a national charging network.
“We are delighted to have invested in Gridserve as part of our ongoing drive to enable positive change and to make a meaningful contribution to the energy transition while delivering value to our investors. Gridserve is leading the charge in the decarbonization of the UK’s transport system and is led by an experienced management team that has already made great progress in expanding Gridserve’s platform. We look forward to working with the Gridserve team as the business moves into this next phase of growth.” said Andy Matthews, Head of Greenfield at Infracapital.
Infracapital’s investment enables Gridserve to deliver over 5,000 High Power Chargers by 2025. Gridserve will also expand the development of its hybrid solar projects to generate and provide net zero energy for its network.

This investment partnership will enable GRIDSERVE to continue to rise to this challenge and deliver maximum impact without delay,“ said Toddington Harper, CEO of Gridserve.
Nomura Greentech acted as financial advisor to Gridserve on the capital raise. RBC Capital Markets and Clifford Chance advised Infracapital. The investment was supported by advisors, including legal firm White &amp; Case and professional services organization PWC.
Earlier this week, Project Solar, a solar e-commerce firm, <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/project-solar-raises-series-a-funding/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $23 million in Series A financing to help scale its business in additional markets. The funding round was led by Left Lane Capital, with additional support from strategics within the industry. The company plans to use the latest institutional capital to scale its digital direct-to-consumer offering in new markets.
According to Mercom’s 1H and Q2 2022 <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/project-finance-brief-enfinity-global-raises-solar-projects-japan/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, in 1H 2022, venture capital (VC) funding activity rose 125% with $3.7 billion in 53 deals compared to the $1.6 billion raised in 26 deals in the first half of 2021.
