Origis Energy, a U.S.-based renewable energy project developer, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/origis-energy-secures-900-million-corporate-credit-facility/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a $900 million corporate credit facility comprising $650 million in funded credit facilities and a $250 million letter-of-credit facility. First Citizens Bank, ING Capital, Natixis, and Santander served as joint bookrunners and coordinating lead arrangers for the transaction. EIG structured and acted as the sole purchaser of notes issued as part of the transaction.
Verse, an energy management platform, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/energy-management-startup-verse-raises-54-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">raised</a> $54 million in an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by Bessemer Venture Partners. GV, NVIDIA, Norrsken VC, and other investors also participated in the round. The company said the funding will support product development and deployment as it scales its platform to meet rising demand from data centers. Verse expects to onboard more than 100 sites over the next 12 months and expand the on-site battery capacity under its management.
Belgium-based battery materials startup Astracite has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/battery-material-company-astracite-raises-1-3-million-in-investments/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> €1.13 million (~$1.3 million) in funding and grant support. This includes an oversubscribed €750,000 (~$860,000) pre-seed financing round backed by CarbonFix, the ATechX Accelerator, IP Innovative Power, Carbon13, and angel investors, including Timothy Macken and Erol Íren. The remaining €380,000 (~$436,000) in grants was was provided by VLAIO, a Flemish government agency that supports innovation and entrepreneurship in Flanders, Belgium.
Create Energy, an advanced energy and electrical power system solutions provider, has acquired SOL Components, a solar mounting and tracker company, from Kloeckner Metals to expand its energy systems platform and solar tracker portfolio. The financial terms of the <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/create-energy-acquires-sol-components-from-kloeckner-metals/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">acquisition</a> were not disclosed. Kloeckner Metals, a subsidiary of Klöckner &amp; Co’s U.S., acquired SOL Components in October 2023. Create Energy said the acquisition will add the SOL Components tracker to its ONTRACK portfolio.
AXIAN Energy, an Arica-based renewable energy developer and a subsidiary of the AXIAN Group, has <a href="https://mercomcapital.com/renewable-energy-developer-axian-energy-secures-60-million/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">signed</a> a $60 million financing facility with Mauritius Commercial Bank, a financial institution operating in the Indian Ocean region. The package includes a $40 million revolving credit facility with a three-year tenor and an extension option. It also includes $20 million in unfunded instruments. AXIAN Energy said the facility would provide additional financial flexibility and help mobilize resources for development opportunities across its target markets.

Funding and M&A Roundup: Origis Energy Secures $900 Million Credit Facility

<a href="https://origisenergy.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Origis Energy</a>, a vertically integrated renewable energy platform and a solar project developer, secured a $300 million corporate credit facility from global investment firm KKR.
Proceeds from the facility will be used to support the continued development and construction of Origis’ pipeline of solar and storage projects.
Headquartered in Miami, Florida, Origis deploys a range of sustainable solutions for grid and distributed power generation, clean hydrogen, and long-term operation of solar, energy storage, and clean hydrogen plants across the U.S.
According to the company, Origis has developed more than 250 solar and storage projects. The company’s current operating contracted, and mature development project portfolio stands at more than 12 gigawatts (GW), with an additional 13 GW in the pipeline in the U.S.
“We are on a remarkable trajectory at Origis and focused on delivering for our customers. We are pleased to be working with KKR in this next phase of our growth,” said Vikas Anand, CEO of Origis.
This investment is stated to comply with KKR’s Asset-Based Finance (ABF) strategy, which focuses on privately originated and negotiated credit investments that are backed by large and diversified pools of financial and hard assets.
“Demand for renewable energy financing is stronger than ever and we are pleased to support Origis Energy, one of the leading developers in this space,” said Sam Mencoff, Director at KKR.
Earlier this year, the company <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/origis-energy-secures-project-financing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">secured</a> a $317 million project tax equity financing from J.P. Morgan to develop two utility-scale solar and solar plus storage projects. The renewable energy projects are located in New Mexico and Mississippi. The tax equity agreement leverages both the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) and the Production Tax Credit (PTC) incentives of the Inflation Reduction Act.
According to Mercom’s Q1 2024 Solar Funding and M&amp;A <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/product/q1-2024-solar-funding-ma-report/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">report</a>, announced debt financing for the solar sector in Q1 2024 totaled $6.2 billion in 22 deals, a 59% increase YoY compared to Q1 2023 when $3.9 billion was raised in 17 deals.
Recently, Matrix Renewables, a global renewable energy company, and Santander Corporate &amp; Investment Banking <a href="https://cms.mercomindia.com/matrix-renewables-secures-322-million-debt-financing/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">closed</a> a €300 million (~$322 million) corporate debt financing deal. Matrix secured this financing as Green and Sustainability-Linked, aligning it with the Green and Sustainability-Linked Loan Principles.

Saatvik, an Indian module manufacturer, <a href="https://saatvikgroup.com/introducing-bifacial-half-cut-mbb-solar-modules-with-545-w-peak-output-and-21-efficiency/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">launched</a> the Bifacial Half Cut MBB Solar Modules with 545W output and 21.12% efficiency. The company would be one of the first manufacturers to start with the production of 545W bifacial modules using M10-sized cells with BIS &amp; IEC certificates. The backside of bifacial modules could provide up to 25% additional power gain. They can also provide significant gains on grasslands and dry sand, especially in snowfields. The modules are based on the advanced mono wafer and PERC Half-cut technology, which would help bring solar plants to a 545W+ solar era with a linear warranty of up to 30 years.
Jindal Worldwide <a href="https://www.bseindia.com/xml-data/corpfiling/AttachLive/e2f5ac29-0e50-4fd9-8ecf-f3802259cca6.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the acquisition of Mumbai-based electric vehicle (EV) startup Earth Energy EV through its subsidiary Jindal Mobilitric. In addition to the acquisition, Jindal Mobilitric would set up a new manufacturing plant in Ahmedabad, supplementing the existing Earth Energy manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. The acquisition will see Jindal Mobilitric take over the indigenously developed technology platform as well as Earth Energy&#8217;s brands — Glyde SX and the Glyde SX+ variants of its commuter scooter as well as the — Evolve R and the Evolve S commuter and cruiser motorcycles. The EV startup has already appointed distributors across ten states which Jindal Mobilitric will retain. The company will also add new touchpoints by strengthening the distributor network in each market.
Hong Leong Bank <a href="https://www.hlb.com.my/en/personal-banking/news-updates/hlb-concludes-maiden-issuance-of-green-capital-securities-of-rm900-million-in-nominal-value.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the issuance of its first Green Additional Tier 1 (AT1) Capital Securities amounting to RM900 million (~$206 million) in nominal value, issued under HLB’s existing multi-currency securities program of up to RM10 billion (~$2.29 billion). The issuance of the Green Capital Securities also achieves the milestone of being the first issuance of a green AT1 bond by a bank in Malaysia. HLB  seeks to raise funds to finance or refinance new or existing green assets, projects, or companies that meet the eligibility criteria outlined in HLB’s Green Bond Framework.
Maxeon Solar Technologies <a href="https://mediaroom.maxeon.com/2022-05-05-Maxeon-Solar-Technologies-Unveils-SunPower-One,-a-Complete-Home-Energy-Management-Experience" target="_blank" rel="noopener">unveiled</a> the SunPower One integrated home energy solution.
