					</table><p>Hyderabad-based integrated solar cell and module manufacturer <a href="https://premierenergies.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Premier Energies</a> and RCT India, part of Germany’s <a href="https://www.rct-solutions.com/about/rct-group/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">RCT Group</a>, have entered into a binding term sheet to form a joint venture to establish a 12 GWh battery energy storage manufacturing facility in Telangana.</p>
<p>Premier Energies’ subsidiary, Premier Battery Technologies, will develop the proposed facility. The first phase will have a manufacturing capacity of 6 GWh.</p>
<p>The companies plan to develop the facility as an export-oriented manufacturing platform serving international markets. Premier Energies will contribute its manufacturing capabilities, while RCT will bring its engineering expertise, international supply chain network, and energy-sector experience.</p>
<p>Premier Energies said the joint venture marks its expansion beyond solar cell and module manufacturing into battery storage.</p>
<p>Chiranjeev Saluja, Managing Director at Premier Energies, said energy storage would help support the power system as India adds renewable energy generation capacity. He added that the company plans to manufacture battery storage products for domestic and international markets through the proposed facility.</p>
<p>The proposed manufacturing facility is expected to address battery storage requirements from renewable power developers, commercial and industrial consumers, and utility-scale projects in India and overseas.</p>
<p>Premier Energies operates advanced manufacturing facilities across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. The company is expanding its manufacturing footprint across the clean energy value chain, including investments in ingot and wafer manufacturing, battery energy storage systems, inverters, transformers, and aluminum components.</p>
<p>As of this April, Premier Energies has commissioned a 1.4 GW TOPCon module manufacturing line and has set a target to achieve 10 GW of integrated capacity across ingots, wafers, cells, and modules by the financial year (FY) 2028.</p>
<p>In July, Premier Energies <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/premier-energies-inaugurates-5-6-gw-solar-module-facility-in-telangana" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inaugurated</a> a 5.6 GW zero-busbar solar module manufacturing facility in Seetharampur, Telangana.</p>
<p>Earlier in January, Premier Energies <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/premier-energies-commissions-400-mw-solar-cell-manufacturing-line-in-telangana" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced</a> the commissioning of a 400 MW Mono PERC cell manufacturing facility at Maheshwaram, Telangana, through its wholly owned subsidiary, Premier Energies Photovoltaic.</p>

					</table><p>The Central Electronics (<a href="https://www.celindia.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CEL</a>), a Ministry of Science and Technology undertaking, has floated a tender to set up a 200 MW solar module manufacturing line in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh.</p>
<p>The last date to submit bids is May 14, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.</p>
<p>Bidders must submit an earnest money deposit of ₹1.2 million (~$14,054).</p>
<p>The project will be set up on a revenue-sharing model under the Make in India initiative.</p>
<p>The company’s solar photovoltaics division achieved sales amounting to ₹351.7 million (~$4.11 million) and production worth ₹354.3 million (~$4.14 million) in FY 2024 as against sales of ₹472.7 million (~$5.53 million) and production worth ₹381.1 million (~$4.46 million) respectively, in the previous year.</p>
<p>Nearly 10.22% of the company’s revenue is derived from the photovoltaics segment.</p>
<p>In February 2025, CEL <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/central-electronics-issues-eoi-for-operating-40-mw-solar-module-plant" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> expressions of interest to run an existing 40 MW automated solar module manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh. The scope of work covered manufacturing, operation, maintenance, marketing, and the sale of solar modules.</p>
<p>The automated solar PV manufacturing facility has a storage facility for approximately 12 MW solar modules.</p>
<p>The company has also installed multiple solar power projects, having a total capacity of around 1.5 MWp.</p>
<p>The company generated 41.59 % of its power requirement in FY 2024 from solar power.</p>
<p>The company also converted its administrative complex into a net zero energy complex. The company’s administrative complex has a 1.5 MW solar power project on campus, making up 43% of its total energy consumption.</p>
<p>According to Mercom’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2025   report, India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/almm-strong-demand-drive-indias-solar-panel-manufacturing-capacity-to-25-3-gw-in-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> 25.3 GW of solar module capacity and 11.6 GW of solar cell capacity in the calendar year 2024. The manufacturing capacity additions in 2024 were primarily driven by demand from the solar project pipeline and the reimposition of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) order from April 2024.</p>
<p>In April 2025, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/mnre-adds-14670-mw-solar-module-capacity-under-almm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">updated</a> the ALMM by adding 14,670 MW of solar module manufacturing capacity. After the latest additions, the cumulative module manufacturing capacity reached 88,905 MW.</p>
<p>In January 2025, ITI Limited, a public sector undertaking of the Department of Telecommunication, <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/iti-invites-bids-for-project-in-uttar-pradesh" target="_blank" rel="noopener">issued</a> a tender to set up a 500 MW fully automatic solar photovoltaic module manufacturing line on a turnkey basis at Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.</p>

					</table><p>Central Electronics (<a href="https://www.celindia.co.in/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">CEL</a>), a central public sector enterprise under the Department of Scientific &amp; Industrial Research, has invited expressions of interest (EoI) to run an existing 40 MW automated solar module manufacturing plant in Uttar Pradesh.</p>
<p>The last date to submit bids is March 3, 2025. Bids will be opened on the same day.</p>
<p>The scope of work covers manufacturing, operation, maintenance, marketing, and the sale of the solar modules.</p>
<p>The contract period will be for two years and extendable for one year.</p>
<p>The solar module facility in Sahibabad, Uttar Pradesh, will operate three shifts. It also has a facility to store about 12 MW of solar modules.</p>
<p>CEL will provide supporting infrastructure/utilities for running the plant, round-the-clock security, power and water supply at commercial rates, and building maintenance services.</p>
<p>It will also provide consumables, tools, and skilled and unskilled manpower needed to run the plant.</p>
<p>In 2023, CEL <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/central-electronics-om-1-mw-solar-project" target="_blank" rel="noopener">invited</a> bids for the operation and maintenance, including round-the-clock security services, for a 1 MW solar project at the Central Electronics Engineering Research Institute’s Pilani Campus.</p>
<p>India <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/product/state-solar-manufacturing-india-1h-2024#:~:text=Key%20Highlights%20from%20the%20Report,for%20solar%20cell%20manufacturing%20capacity" target="_blank" rel="noopener">added</a> 11.3 GW of solar modules and 2 GW of cell manufacturing capacity in the first half of 2024, according to Mercom India’s research report, State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 1H 2024.</p>
<p>As of June 2024, India’s cumulative solar module manufacturing capacity reached 77.2 GW, while solar cell capacity totaled 7.6 GW.</p>
<p>The capacity additions were driven by a robust solar project pipeline of 132.7 GW planned between 2024 and 2026 and the reinstatement of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) order in April 2024.</p>
<p>In January, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy <a href="https://mercomindia.com/mnre-adds-3-gw-of-solar-module-capacity-to-almm" target="_blank" rel="noopener">updated</a> the ALMM for solar modules, adding 3,015 MW of new capacity. The cumulative module manufacturing capacity stands at 67,401 MW. The ALMM now has 90 module manufacturers listed.</p>


Central Electronics Issues EoI for Operating 40 MW Solar Module Plant

					</table><p>China-based solar inverter manufacturer <a href="https://www.ginverter.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Growatt</a> has started the first phase of its production plant in Haiphong, Vietnam, to manufacture 500,000 inverters and 100,000 batteries annually.</p>
<p>The new facility will manufacture solar and storage inverters along with storage batteries.</p>
<p>Growatt’s Chairman and CEO David Ding said, &#8220;The opening of our Vietnam factory is an exciting milestone for Growatt as we forge ahead with our globalization strategy to expand our operations globally. We&#8217;ve been investing heavily in globalizing our distribution and service networks over the years, and now we move to open this factory in Vietnam to boost our production capacity and strengthen our capability to deliver reliable and quality products to customers.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;With energy transition well underway, we aim to advance our technologies and expand our manufacturing capacity to enable homes, businesses, and communities across the world to benefit from sustainable energy,&#8221; Ding said.</p>
<p>The company expects the expansion plans to support the increasing demand for storage to manage the intermittency issues of various renewable energy sources.</p>
<p>Growatt will use automated and digital solutions for manufacturing.</p>
<p>The company offers diverse clean solutions in smart energy management, including residential storage inverters, off-grid storage inverters, battery systems, and electric vehicle charging solutions. With the expansion of its manufacturing capacity, Growatt aims to provide homes, businesses, and communities globally with access to sustainable energy.</p>
<p>At a webinar the ‘Battery Storage Solar Systems: An Untapped Market in India,’ hosted by Mercom last year, industry experts <a href="https://mercomindia.com/battery-storage-system-costs-high-roi-attractive-mercom-webinar/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said </a>that the steep investment required for lithium-ion battery storage systems is a significant impediment in their large-scale deployment in solar projects even though the return on investment is attractive.</p>
<p>Growatt’s Shantanu Sirsath had told the webinar that the company was expecting better growth in demand for battery storage systems in the coming years.</p>
<p>According to Mercom’s <a href="https://mercomindia.com/product/mercoms-india-solar-market-leaderboard-1h-2022-market-shares-and-profiles/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">India Solar Market Leaderboard 1H 2022</a>, Growatt was among the top five solar string inverter suppliers, accounting for 94% of the market share during the first half of the calendar year 2022.</p>
