Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company, has commissioned a 190.5 MW solar firm and dispatchable renewable energy (FDRE) project at Kalasar in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The project is part of a larger 460 MW FDRE capacity contracted by the company, comprising 41% of the total contractual capacity.

The project combines solar generation with a 115 MWh battery energy storage system and grid support technologies. It was developed under SJVN’s FDRE Tranche 1 and will supply electricity to the Haryana Power Purchase Centre, Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company, and Noida Power Company.

TPREL said it deployed technologies including battery energy storage, a harmonic filter bank, and static var generator systems at the project.

The company said the project faced compressed construction timelines and supply chain disruptions that affected the availability of transmission line materials, module mounting structures, and other equipment.

The new commissioning will increase TPREL’s renewable utility capacity to 12.4 GW. About 6.9 GW of the capacity is operational, comprising 5.6 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity, while the remaining 5.5 GW is under various stages of implementation and is expected to be commissioned in phases over the next 24 months.

In July, TPREL began construction of an 800 MW wind-solar project in Andhra Pradesh.

Tata Power said its total operational and under-construction power generation capacity has surpassed 26 GW. This includes approximately 17.7 GW of clean energy capacity, including projects under construction.

The company also has more than 7,800 circuit kilometers of transmission lines, including projects in the pipeline. Tata Power has established 4.9 GW of integrated solar cell and module manufacturing capacity and signed agreements for 2.8 GW of pumped hydro storage projects.

Tata Power reported a revenue of ₹188.98 billion (~$2 billion) in the first quarter of the financial year 2027, an 8.2% year-over-year increase from ₹174.64 billion (~$1.82 billion).
