Large-scale manufacturing businesses with significant power needs can reduce their daytime electricity costs by installing rooftop solar systems at their facilities. Cotton yarn manufacturers, which typically require uninterrupted power supply, can also tap into rooftop solar solutions to ensure regular electricity and boost their power savings.

Cotton yarn manufacturer Sri Kannapiran Mills has commissioned a 3.1 MW rooftop solar project to source electricity for its manufacturing operations and reduce its annual power costs by more than ₹13 million (~$135,435).

Sri Kannapiran Mills, a KG Group company, is located in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

SafEarth Renewables commissioned the project in December 2025.

The project is expected to meet more than 50% of the company’s power requirements.

The rooftop solar installation cost over ₹110 million (~$1.15 million), which the installer said included the costs of replacing the facility’s asbestos roof with metal sheets before installing the solar system.

The project operates under an operational expenditure model.

It is expected to generate approximately 1.4 million to 1.5 million units of electricity per MWp during the first year. At the project’s 3.1 MW capacity, this translates to approximately 4.34 million to 4.65 million units in the first year.

The system uses Goldi Solar’s 580 Wp TOPCon modules.

SafEarth said the installation required replacing the existing asbestos sheets with metal roofing before mounting the solar modules. The company added that managing construction alongside the plant’s regular operations was one of the installation’s challenges.

Last year, SafEarth also commissioned 2.5 MW and 3 MW solar projects for Harmony Plastics and Plasti Weave Industries at the SafEarth UGVCL-1 solar park in Himatnagar, Gujarat.

In June 2026, SafEarth facilitated a 202.96 kW rooftop solar system for Kerala-based Green Worms Waste Management under a renewable energy service company model. The system is expected to save the company approximately ₹600,000 (~$6,357) annually in electricity expenses.
