Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi emphasized the importance of India developing a circular economy for clean energy technologies during his address at the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026. He said solar modules, batteries, and other clean energy components must be designed for reuse and recycling.
India must set enhanced solar energy targets to provide long-term demand visibility for manufacturers, developers, investors, and financiers, and to support infrastructure development, transmission rollout, and resource planning, Raj Prabhu, CEO of Mercom Capital Group, said at the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026.
At the Mercom India Renewables Summit 2026, panelists at the session titled “Powering Stability: Scaling Hybrid Renewables for a Resilient Grid” discussed how hybrid renewables, battery energy storage systems, and evolving tender structures are reshaping India’s power procurement market.

NLC India invited bids to lease 3,000 acres of land in Rajasthan for the development of solar projects. Bids must be submitted by August 1, 2026. Bids will be opened the same day. The scope of work includes arranging 3,000 acres of government or private land for lease, conducting topographic surveys, providing site enabling facilities, obtaining statutory approvals, no-objection certificates, permits, and clearances, and completing all activities specified in the technical specifications.
The Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation issued an expression of interest to set up 807 MW of floating solar projects, with 403 MW/807 MWh of battery energy storage systems, on reservoirs, on a public-private partnership basis.
Tamil Nadu-based renewable energy solutions provider Renfra Energy India filed a draft red herring prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Board of India to raise funds through an initial public offering, comprising ₹4.3 billion (~$45.14 million).
