					</table><p>India&#8217;s solar manufacturing sector is entering a critical phase as the country seeks to strengthen domestic supply chains, reduce import dependence, and support its rapidly expanding solar deployment targets.</p>
<p>India added nearly 119 GW of solar modules and over 9 GW of solar cell capacity in 2025, according to <a href="https://www.mercomindia.com/product/state-solar-manufacturing-india-2026" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercom India’s State of Solar PV Manufacturing in India 2026</a> report. The cumulative module manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) is 193 GW, while the enlisted cell capacity is 30 GW.</p>
<p>While policy interventions such as the production-linked incentive programs and the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) have boosted investments in manufacturing, factors such as lack of cost competitiveness, technology advancement, raw material availability, and workforce development are still holding the sector back.</p>
<p>At its sixth Renewables Summit, Mercom India will bring together some of the brightest minds in the industry to delve into the challenges facing solar cell manufacturing in the country.</p>
