GREW Solar, Caelux Sign 4 GW Perovskite Solar Technology Deal

The companies are targeting commercial production of hybrid tandem solar modules in 2028

Gujarat-based solar manufacturer GREW Solar has signed a five-year commercialization agreement with Caelux Corporation to produce high efficiency modules by using up to 4 GW of the U.S.-based company’s perovskite energy-producing glass.

GREW Solar will integrate Caelux’s perovskite glass with its N-type tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) technology to manufacture hybrid tandem solar modules, including its large-format G12R series.

The modules are intended to meet eligibility requirements under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers.

The companies are targeting commercial production of the perovskite-silicon modules in 2028.

Caelux’s technology converts the top glass of a conventional solar module into an additional power-generating layer. GREW Solar said combining this layer with its TOPCon cells could yeild module efficiencies exceeding 29%.

Caelux claims that its technology can increase solar module energy density by up to 30% and reduce the levelized cost of electricity by at least 20%. The agreement increases the perovskite solar technology company’s contracted volume with solar module manufacturers globally to 19 GW.

GREW Solar said it can incorporate the technology into its existing manufacturing infrastructure. The company currently operates a 6.5 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Dudu, Rajasthan, and plans to increase its module manufacturing capacity to 11 GW.  To support its module manufacturing expansion plans, the company raised ₹10.5 billion (~$118.4 million) in February 2026 and ₹3 billion (~$33.8 million) last year.

It is also establishing 8 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity in Narmadapuram, Madhya Pradesh and an 8 GW of wafer and ingot manufacturing lines.

Recently, GREW Solar secured a repeat order worth ₹4.3 billion (~$47.3 million) from an independent power producer to supply G12R solar modules.

In March this year, it also secured a repeat order worth about ₹5 billion from a domestic independent power producer to supply M10R TOPCon solar modules.
