Mercom India will host the sixth edition of its flagship Mercom India Renewables Summit on July 1 and 2, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency in New Delhi.
A major event on India’s renewable energy calendar, the Summit will convene industry leaders, policymakers, investors, developers, manufacturers, and technology providers to share insights and discuss the next phase of the country’s clean energy transition.
High-level panel discussions will focus on recent and upcoming policy developments, and the current challenges across key segments, including solar, wind, energy storage, green hydrogen, transmission, and clean energy manufacturing.
One of the highlights of this year’s event will be a panel discussion on how to overcome the skilled workforce shortage in India’s renewable energy manufacturing ecosystem
India’s rapid expansion of solar manufacturing is highlighting a growing mismatch between academic training and industry needs, leading to a shortage of skilled workers.
The industry has been pointing out how the skills gap is affecting project costs, timelines, and productivity, while challenges such as inadequate infrastructure, limited faculty exposure, and weak industry-academia integration are prompting institutions to rethink how engineers are trained for manufacturing-focused roles.
These issues will be discussed during the session titled ‘Bridging the Renewable Energy Talent Gap: Aligning Academia with Industry Needs’ to be held on July 2 (Day 2 of the Event) at 12:30 PM.
It will focus on workforce readiness, industry requirements, and the role of academic institutions in supporting the growth of the renewable energy sector.
The session will feature Raj Prabhu, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Mercom Capital Group; Sishir Garemella, Head of International Business Development at Kiwa PVEL; Professor Juzer M Vasi, Professor Emeritus, Department of Electrical Engineering and NCPRE at IIT Bombay, and Avinash Hiranandani, Vice Chairman and Managing Director at RenewSys India.
The panel will discuss the lack of training in installation, equipment handling, and system troubleshooting, essential for workforce readiness, and identify practical solutions for aligning curriculum, technical training, internships, and industry partnerships with the evolving needs of India’s clean energy sector.
The two-day Summit will offer a platform to evaluate progress toward these goals and deliberate on the policy, regulatory, financial, and technological changes needed to support the sector’s next phase of growth.
Register now to attend the event and help shape the future of India’s renewable energy sector.
