As India’s power demand rises with the expansion of digital infrastructure and commercial and industrial (C&I) activity, decentralized energy solutions are gaining prominence as businesses seek reliable, cost-effective, and low-carbon electricity sources.
Corporate consumers are increasingly turning to rooftop solar, open access procurement, behind-the-meter battery storage, and microgrids to manage energy costs, improve reliability, and meet sustainability commitments.
The shift is creating new opportunities across the energy value chain while reshaping the relationship between consumers, utilities, and power producers. At the same time, questions remain around regulatory frameworks, storage economics, financing models, grid integration, and the role of distribution companies in an increasingly decentralized power system.
At its sixth Renewables Summit, Mercom India will bring together industry leaders to examine how consumer-led clean energy adoption is evolving and what it means for India’s power sector.
A panel discussion on “Decentralized Energy: Unlocking Consumer-Led Clean Power” will be held at 4:50 PM on July 1, 2026, at the Hyatt Regency, New Delhi. The session will be held at Oval Hall, Lower Ground Floor.
The panel discussion will feature Alok Kumar, Director General at All India DISCOMs Association; Vishal Jain, Managing Director at August Energy India; Kartikeya Narain Sharma, Co-Founder and Chief Business Officer at Sunsure Energy; Abhishek Ranjan, Chief Executive Officer at BSES Rajdhani Power; and Shri Venkatesh, Founding Partner at SKV Law Offices.
The panelists will explore the growing role of decentralized energy solutions in meeting the electricity requirements of C&I consumers while supporting India’s clean energy transition.
They will assess the opportunities and challenges associated with rooftop solar, open access, behind-the-meter storage, and microgrids, and examine how these solutions can improve energy reliability, affordability, and resilience.
Investment and financing approaches, corporate renewable energy procurement strategies, storage integration, emerging revenue streams, and the evolving role of distribution utilities will be among the themes discussed.
The Summit will also feature other impactful panel discussions on policy shifts across key segments, including solar, wind, energy storage, green hydrogen, transmission, and clean energy manufacturing.
For the first time, the Summit will feature focused discussions and workshops addressing practical challenges across manufacturing, workforce development, and project procurement.
In addition to the conference program, the 2026 Summit will host the sixth Mercom India Awards and the Renewable Energy Exhibition.
The Mercom India Awards, recognized as one of the solar industry’s most prestigious accolades, will honor outstanding achievements and spotlight companies and individuals driving the sector’s growth. The awards will be presented by Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi.
The Renewable Energy Exhibition will feature leading renewable energy companies showcasing solutions and services across solar, wind, energy storage, grid technologies, and other clean energy segments.
Register now to attend the event and help shape the future of India’s renewable energy sector.
