Surat-based renewable energy solutions provider KP Energy secured an order from JK Paper to set up a 91.4 MW wind-solar hybrid project in Gujarat on a turnkey basis.

KP Energy’s scope of work entails the engineering, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the hybrid projects. It also includes providing operation and maintenance (O&M) services for the balance of project of the wind capacity and the solar project’s fully installed capacity.

The company must develop the project’s power evacuation infrastructure and enable its grid connectivity. KP Energy must also obtain the statutory and regulatory clearances for the hybrid project.

KP Energy has a pipeline of more than 2.18 GW, an independent power producer capacity of 48.5 GW, and a total O&M portfolio of over 644 MW. The company has more than 1.11 GW of consolidated capacity energized to date, including projects with central and state transmission utilities.

This February, KP Energy was among the winners of the Solar Energy Corporation of India’s auction to develop 1.2 GW of interstate transmission system-connected wind power projects across India under Tranche XIX. The company was awarded 100 MW at a tariff of ₹3.67/kWh (~$0.405/kWh).

Last December, KP Energy was among the winners of Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam’s auction to set up 250 MW grid-connected wind power projects (Phase X), securing 50 MW at a tariff of ₹3.44 (~$0.0383)/kWh.

Commercial and Industrial (C&I) consumers remain the single largest category of electricity users in India, accounting for nearly 42% of total electricity consumption in recent years. This dominance is most pronounced in open access power-friendly states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Rajasthan, which host large industrial clusters.

Mercom India hosts C&I Clean Energy Meets across India, designed to encourage businesses to transition to renewable energy, including solar, for their operations and connect energy buyers directly with top-tier solar suppliers. The next Mercom India C&I Clean Energy Meet event will be held in Mumbai on April 16, 2026.
