UltraTech Cement, the cement flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group, commissioned 116.55 MW of wind capacity at its inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected wind-solar project in Barmer, Rajasthan.

It also commissioned 10 MW of Waste Heat Recovery System (WHRS) capacity at Sarlanagar Cement Works, its integrated manufacturing unit in Karnataka.

The capacity additions take the cement company’s installed green energy capacity to 2.024 GW.

UltraTech’s installed green energy portfolio comprises 1,580 MW of renewable energy capacity and 444 MW of WHRS capacity.

The company said these sources currently meet about 48% of its power requirements.

In fiscal year 2027 so far, nearly a third of UltraTech’s 76 manufacturing units in India have maintained green energy utilization above 50% of their electricity requirements.  The green energy utilizationof five units is above 95%.

UltraTech commissioned 430 MW of green energy capacity in fiscal year 2026. The company is also integrating battery energy storage across its operations to increase renewable energy utilization and supply reliability.

In 2025, UltraTech operationalized an on-site hybrid round-the-clock renewable energy project at its Sewagram Cement Works in Gujarat.

UltraTech said it has not invested in new captive thermal power capacity for greenfield projects or brownfield expansions at its integrated units for more than 10 years.

The company aims to increase green energy’s share of its total power mix to 85% by 2030. As a member of RE100, UltraTech has also committed to meeting 100% of its electricity requirements through renewable sources by 2050.

In August 2026, UltraTech Cement announced that it will procure solar power from a 65 MW project being developed by Waaree Forever Energies’ special purpose vehicle (SPV), Solaris Horizon Energy, in Chhattisgarh.

In the same year, it also signed agreements to procure power from Sunsure Solarpark Seven’s 60 MW captive solar project integrated with a battery energy storage system in Uttar Pradesh.
